Private Security Guard Jobs in Sacramento & Northern California

Consolidated Protective Services’ stringent hiring and training policies ensure we only hire the best and the brightest in the security field. We invest in the growth and development of our officers through our security guard jobs by providing ongoing training, so they can provide the highest level of service and protection.

Hiring

Consolidated Protective Services' armed and unarmed security guards and vehicle patrol officers undergo a rigorous hiring process that includes:

  • Written examinations
  • Comprehensive background checks (including criminal and employment history investigations)
  • Multiple interviews
  • Drug screenings
  • Credit checks
  • Licensing regulation compliance
  • Additional screenings and checks when necessary
  • Driving records

Our hires usually apply with a military or law enforcement background or are seeking a career in law enforcement or pursuing their degrees in criminal justice. All of our new guards must meet strict height-to-weight ratio standards and demonstrate a professional demeanor before they are approved for training.

Training

We spend a significant portion of company resources to ensure all employees receive extensive security guard training and stay on top of new developments in the field. Our training meets California Bureau of Security and Investigative Service standards. New security officers complete a basic four-week formal training program to gain the skills they need to work as unarmed or armed guards.

Security Guard Hiring and Training

All Consolidated Protective Services private security officers are required to have their guard card with 40 hours of completed training. In addition, armed officers must possess their chemical and baton certifications along with their state firearm permits to work with us.

Ongoing Training and Development

At Consolidated Protective Services, we support the ongoing training and development of our officers. We test our security officers periodically on their knowledge of site-specific security. Senior security officers take part in Consolidated Protective Services' own Certified Security Officer (CSO) training course to ensure that they are knowledgeable about new security developments and safety techniques. Subjects in the CSO program include the following:

  • Appropriate use of force
  • Responding to hazardous-material incidents
  • Bomb threats
  • Effective patrolling
  • Courtesy
  • Effective report writing
  • Blood-borne pathogens
  • High-rise building security
  • First aid
  • Fire risk for security officers
  • Law in the security field

All company supervisors attend in-house training classes on strong supervision and management, company regulations and policies, equipment maintenance, specific duties, communication, delegation of tasks, basic supervision, and records maintenance. Additionally, our officers attend external security workshops to enhance their knowledge and skills.
